Money is a social banking app for students focused on building connections and opening conversations about personal finances.
After researching the different problems surrounding students' finances, a common theme suggested that many students found it difficult to have open, in-person discussions about their finances.
The objective was to create a contemporary design that appealed to a younger audience. Money wanted to break free from the "taboo" or "awkwardness" that's often found when discussing finances and bills.
Money's in-app profile builder and messaging platform removes the need for in-person requests for financial contributions from friends or housemates towards household bills or social events.
The outcome was a structured design that's easy to use. Early on in the project there was a strong focus on the onboarding flow. The app was made for young people with large social groups and relied on those groups of people all adopting and using the application, so I felt it was important to have a good onboarding flow.
Other key features allowed users to build a user profile and connect via an in app messenger. The messenger could be used to request funds, send messages of gratitude and create groups for transparency when splitting bills.
There are also common features within the app to track and categorise spending, check balances and statements for multiple accounts, send money and make payments.
